Forum > The Goldfish Topics > Goldfish Tanks > Goldfish plants, & how to set up a planted tank

i've made my tank barebottom, and have 'potted' my anubias in a small glass with gravel. i dont really know if that's ok or not. and i dont know if the water will be filtered from the glass, or if it'll go old and unhealthy. what do i need to do to keep my plant healthy??

here is a photo
clicky here!

(ps i have already asked about this in tank forum but only in the context of 'does my tank look good?' i figured people with more plant-specific expertise may be able to help me with the plant issue here, thank you)

It should be okay. Smaller gravel would have been better to avoid food and muck settling down in between the pebbles, so it might be wise to totally rinse it out and re-pot the plant every 4-6 weeks or so. The glass is good though as it allows you to see if there's a problem developing.

That'll work. It's a nice look for your tank too. And do rinse it as recommended previously.

I do the anarchis forest in my half barrel pond in a similar fashion.
