I have two fish almost exactly like the one in the pic at the top of this forum. The only difference is the length of the tail. Mine both have very long and very strong tail fins. Oh, and their eyes are all black. A local fish "expert" told me that most of my fish are mixed (accidentally crossbred).

The names of the two I'm talking about are Flip and Flop. Flip got her name because she has vertical stripes on one side and spots like the above picture on the other side. Flop is colored just like the above picture.

The little guy at the top is a short finned shubunkin. He has the body shape of a common goldfish but the calico coloring. smile.gif

My shubunkins mostly have the long flowing fins too. That is a shubunkin trademark though the length of the fins does vary. Yours aren't necessarily crossbreeds. A shubunkin is simply a calico colored common or comet goldfish. Often the calico fish will have solid black eyes.

Yea!!!!! I was right!!!! I thought they were shubunkins!!! I have one in my tank at school too. Aren't those tails beautiful???!!! I love to watch them forage in the gravel - tails fluttering.

I can't wait till I can download and post pics from my new digital camera. I'm going to start the learning process Sunday night. (going camping tomorrow) I have a few goldies that don't fit the profile of any one type. Two, for instance, are fat and egg shaped, mostly white with a little gray, and have strange double tails and black eyes. Without pics it's hard to describe - I'm hoping to post pics next week.

I know this area is for breeding, but I wanted to ask the question where the picture was.

thanxsn.gif for the info and answering so quickly!!!!!!!!
