hello I was just wondering... I used a tank divider in my ten gallon and put a male betta on the other side. will they get stressed from seeing each other through the screen? would this be a problem? smile.gif

They will flare at each other, but should eventually get used to the presence and stop. If they do it constantly or if they begin to get stressed you might have to put a more solid screen between them so that they cannot see each other. Maybe a colored piece of plastic with holes drilled for water circulation. I think they will be fine, tho. Keep us updated, and try for piccies! I bet that would look awesome with the two flaring at each other.

I agree, they should be fine. A little flaring at each other won't hurt. If it's constant, you could put some plants on both sides of the screen to give them some "privacy" smile.gif

Personally, I would not put 2 males in the same tank with a divider. I tried this once, and didn't like the stress caused to both fish. But, if you still chose to do it, the idea of putting plants on each side of the divider for some 'privacy' is a great idea.

smile.gif I kept three males in a divided tank for two years, and they were fine together,I think the big factor was privacy. As mentioned,I had plants in each divider area that really gave them their own sense of security.Every once in a while they might catch a peak or two,but it was only for a second. I also had a little hidey hole for each which worked well for them all.
I definately wouldn't keep them in a divided tank any other way,I think it's unfair and too stressful on them. JMO though. wink.gif
