Hi,
I posted a similar prob the other week but have been away. My Black moor has been in the hosp tank for 3 weeks now. It is pooing alot but its anus seems to be extended out its body. Where its bum is it seems to have a brown lump sticking out. Im really unsure what this is but she seems to be acting normally.
Pls help

She has what looks like an extended anus. Instead of it being inside her it looks like its sticking out of her. Its about the 1/2 a cm long. She can poo and is actually producing more po than normal. she doesnt scratch it and seems fine otherwise.

Could these fish be females and reabsorbing eggs?

no and as a matter of fact her poos have been bad. long a stringy and whiteish. But the past couple of times it is normal again.
i just added some parasite clear but her poo was good before that. thep\c is for another couple of fish in the tank

Could you post a picture?
It could be a prolasped rectum. If this is the case there isn't much you can do, just take care of the fish until it becomes life threatening.
Making sure to feed alot of peas to keep the fish from being constipated is step one.

what is a prolasped rectum?. I have been feeding greens but she is definately not constipated.

Basically what a prolapsed rectum is the "colon" coming out of the fish. In laymans terms.....her guts coming out her butt. Not a good thing.
What type of greens are you feeding? Peas are a natural laxative, while other greens may not be. Why I said a diet full of peas. Her stool should be as soft as you can get it, incase this is a prolapse of her rectum.

I think it may be a prolapsed rectum. Ive been looking and it looks like that. What can i do other than feed peas. Will it get better or is it just a waiting game. Im v upset as this is the first one that may die in over 4 years.

If it is infact a prolapsed rectum there isn't anything you can do other than soft foods to avoid constipation.
Eventually it may become infected and cause the fish to get deathly sick.
It may live with it years..........it is hard to say, or it could cause severe problems quickly.
At this point you are doing all you can. I have never heard of this condition fixing itself without vet assistance. But even then it is a touch and go healing. And I don't believe that the surgery to fix it can be done on fish.

Should i keep her in a q/t?. If nothing can really cure her is it better to keep her in q/t or should i return her to the main tank?
