Full Version: Lethargic Goldfish

I have had 2 goldfish for about 1 and a half years in a five foot tank with no problems. I have a kit to make sure the water is spot on and they are eating fine. However, over the past few days they have become very lethargic, sitting at the bottom of the tank with fins clamped. I have tried a mild salt solution without any luck and have checked against various diseases without being able to reach any diagnosis.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Hiya Astiria, it would help if you could give us some water parameters ie. ammonia, nitrites, nitrates and ph. Also is your ph stable?

Just a couple more q's:

- how often do you do waterchanges?
- what is the volume of water changed?
- what kind of filtration do you have? (brand and model if possible)
- have you purchased any new plants lately?
- are they pooping? If so, is it solid/coloured?
- what are you feeding your guys?

I suspect it could be due to something in the water and the answers to the questions above will help enormously.

Do you have plenty of aeration in your tank?
