I'm planning to put Java moss, Java fern and maybe some anubias on a styrofoam/polystyrene surface. Anyone know if they're gonna cling on to it?

well... I just wanted to ask, WHY?

wouldn't styrofoam keep floating to the surface? not to mention all those little particles detaching and floating around in the water....

Anyway, I guess the Java fern might be able to cling to the styro, if you rasp out hollows in the surface for the roots and rhizomes to gain foothold on, but I still want to ask, WHY????

The stryrofoam is actually sheets of black "rocky" background by Azoo and u put it up at the back of the tank (fastened by either silicone or just cut to fit the tank so it doesn't float. It's very sturdy and the particles are VERY tightly stuck together.

Oh, so it's one of THOSE! I thought for a while there you were planning on using packaging styro... biggrin.gif

Lol biggrin.gif

I guess I just have to buy some plants and pray that they'll attach themselves there laugh.gif

I think you shouldn't hope too much about java moss attaching to styro though. The anubias and Microsorium might work

Whew, I'm done attaching the plants to the foam. Java Fern & Anubias Nana first now (Java Moss maybe later) & used toothpicks to fix them into place. Will post pics soon wink.gif
