I recently purchased two dojos and I LOVE them! They are so fun to watch and one of them especially (Henry) has so much personality! I know that they are escape artists and I do have some open spaces at the edges where the top meets the sides. How do you make this secure? Do you use a net and if so, what kind? I need some ideas so I can make sure they are safe. Thank you!

When I had dojos I wraped the holes with plastic wrap and then covered the plastic wrap with duct tape. All my holes were in the back so you couldn't see the tape.

Congrats on your new dojos, they're so much fun aren't they laugh.gif

What are Dojos?

They're a type of loach....they kind of remind me of eels. They're long and skinny and move really fast. Heres a pic http://loachtank.com/albums/userpics/10050...albino_dojo.jpg

They come in different colors, the one in the pic is albino. I had a pair that were brown and spotted biggrin.gif

Wow that was a really cool pic. Thanks.

So I take it these little buggers can climb out of tanks??? How do they manage that? Futhermore are they compatible with Gold Fish?

Thanks

They JUMP! They're crazy little critters, so much fun to watch. I had a hole in my acclimation tub that I put them in when I first got them, the hole was only about a square inch and I stuck a sponge over it so they wouldn't see the hole. I went down the hall to get a bucket of water to replace the water I took out of my tank to acclimate them in...when I got about halfway down the hall I hear this scream come from my roommate. One of loaches had jumped with enough force to lift up the sponge, get out and have the sponge fall neatly back in place. ohmy.gif They're slippery little things to, you pretty much have to have a net to pick them up becuase they'd slide right out of your hand if you tried to get them that way wink.gif

Yep, they're compatible with goldies. They just need lots of space because they like to swim around a lot....if they don't have enough room they jump ohmy.gif They also like a friend so if you should get at least two of them if you ever think of getting them.

i have them and they are so much fun to watch, i think my two are in love, they follow each other everywhere and sleep under the log together, its so cute.
i panic when i am cleaning the tank coz they like to come up and investigate whats going on!!
i have had to cover the back holes of my tank lid to stop the getting out because one of them liked to sit on top of the filter with its head out of the water!!

have fun with them, im sure you will
