well i thourly washed that and at the end barley chips were showing. so i called petsmart and asked them if it would be ok and they said it would be.

So you want to add the gravel.....without the paint chips b/c I wouldn't even think about putting that in regardless of whether it was cleaned or what petsmart says....to the river rocks? I personally *love* my bare bottom tank, and my fish don't mind either, but I know it looks blahhhh. Have a look at Jed's tank. I think this is a great example of how one can make babre bottom work to their advantage. How are those fish doing, btw?

ohmy.gif kristen now now dont get upset. we all are different in our thoughts and oppinons and i thought my tanks looked alittle too bare

Oh no.....please don't think I'm upset at all! I thought I made it clear that I "personally" prefer the bare bottom look....hmmm. How does this happen? unsure.gif
I just wanted to make you realize how scared I am about the whole paint chip thing....I think that when you put the river rocks in with some other, different sized rocks, this looks wonderful. Kev has a great set-up in this way. What it comes down to is that I'm a lazy butt....I don't have to clean nearly as much with my bare bottom. You got me all wrong if you think in any way I was trying to invalidate your opinion on the matter. I would never try to do something like that! I live for our freedoms & will "fight to the death for your right" to them! biggrin.gif
If I had rocks in my tank, I would most certainly go with a combo of different kinds for the natural appeal. You should be fine with adding them. LOL

yeah but what if they begin to chip again and one of your fish got one to eat? that wouldnt be good. if i were you i would go buy some new gravel! if you like river rocks *i love 'em* there is a type of gravel called pea gravel. its at home depot, lowes, etc. and its a bunch of itty bitty river rocks, they are smooth and shiny. im gonna get that for my future tank.
