Wooo! I dropped 5 apo bulbs into my tank 3 or 4 days ago, and 2 have already sprouted

The other three are all the same type of plant so they will hopefully sprout soon. The box says it should take 2-3 weeks to sprout...I guess I'm doing *something* right.
Come party with me!

Mine have finally started to sprout as well. I think they were slow because of low water temps. Have you had problems with the goldies eating the shoots before they get long?

I'm keeping mine in a tropical tank, so the heat probably sped things up for me. I don't have any goldies to nibble them, but I've heard of that happening with the sprouts.
A third sprouted today

If Fred Jr. and Sadee don't let them grow, then I'll probably go with some anacharis or amazon sword.

You'll probably have better luck with the sword since it has bigger and broader leaves. Good luck!

i would recommend that you squeze the bulbs that dont sprout because i had a pack and most of them were bad already and when i put it in the tank it killed my goldy that you see in the icon.

What? The plant bulbs killed your fish?

maybe he meant their decomposition raised the organic contaminants level in his tank

I checked the bulbs like you suggested and sure enough all but 4 were spongy feeling so I took those out. The other 4 are still firm and 2 have started to sprout

I'm down to 2 of these bulbs now. One is sprouting. the other isn't but is still firm as opposed to spongy. I had to hide the sprouting one at the base of a fake silk amazon sword plant because my 2 orandas kept nibbling at the shoot. So far, they've left it alone and hopefully it will get enough light. Also it would be nice if the leaves of the real plant mingle with the leaves of the fake plant.
