I thought I'd start a new post to show off my babies. They are just about 3 months old now and many are coloring up nicely. There is a huge size difference in them. For now they are in a 10 gallon and I have absolutely no idea how many there are. Over a hundred, at least, I'd say. They are moving outdoors to a tub soon.

Enjoy!

I am going to try to post one pic in each post so it wont slow down too much for those on dialup.

Edit: forgive all the algae! Ack, didnt realize it was that noticeable!!

This big orange guy in the front is one of my favorites. He may be the one I keep but not sure yet.

Wow, they're so cute heartpump.gif

I can't believe how many are in there - other than the 1 you keep, are you going to sell them to an aquarium?

I love the way they're all eyes right now biggrin.gif

Tell me about it, I want to keep them all! I just love shubunkins. The parents were rescued from the feeder tank at work last year.

I am going to put a few of my favorites in the pond at my parents' house and sell the rest to the store where I used to work. Since it is warm now people will be wanting them for ponds. smile.gif

Tooo cute! They look like my fry Mera and Goldie, I think they are shubies after their mom! heartpump.gif

They are lovely Jenny, and there is a huge size difference, some are still so small but I guess that's not unexpected. If I lived closer I would adopt some, I love their colours and I'm getting more enjoyment out of watching my singletailed fish lately. They are so graceful, economical and precise in their movements.

Oh you dont know how I wish I could keep them all!! heartpump.gif I knew I would get attached. I always do! I will put some in the pond at my parents house but not too many as there are already so many goldies plus some koi in there. When my parents sell the house I will be the one taking all the fish blink.gif so Im going to have to have a massive pond of my own someday!

Great photos. Don't be too quick to get rid of the olive ones, one of mine went black and white at 10 months and the other went orange and black at 1 year old. Even the plain oranges turned orange and white at 1 year old.

I see you have lots with black eyes? Do you have any that have one reflective eye and one black eye? It's really odd and just gets more noticeable as they get bigger.

Wow, those guys are growing fast!! And just so adorable. I wonder how many actually turn out calico at the end, and how many red/white... unsure.gif
And when you put them into the pond, you better make sure they have adequate size, otherwise you know what the koi are gonna do to them... Scoff.gif

I am not leaving the olive ones out. biggrin.gif I cant wait to see what colors those guys develop. All the fish in my 100 are shubies except for one red and white common. I dont know if he contributed at all but we'll see.

My temp outdoors is stable now (thanks to the heater) so if all goes well they will be moving outside to their big new home tomorrow! smile.gif I am not selling any or putting them into the pond till they are much larger, dont worry.

Funny, we have an overpopulation of mosquitofish (gambusia) in the pond adn the koi and goldies just ignore them!

Awww, I love fry pics. heartpump.gif Hey, don't worry 'bout the algae! It's supposed to be a good food source for them right? smile.gif
