I have a 55 gallon tank, no live plants. How many watts do i need, so the brown algae will stay away? I'm using 15 watt now and have brown algae. Thanks

Weird. I run 60 watts and no algea. Maybe I just jinxed myself. How long do you leave the lights on for?

I think 15 watt is too low and that's what causes the brown algae to grow. Get some bigger bulbs up the wattage to maybe at least 30 watts.

I leave the lights on all day and turn them off at night. I will try 30 watts and see what happens. Thanks every one.
