I have an Aquaclear 70 filter on my 30 gallon tank. Recently I noticed that the box inside that holds the media floats up on one side and the lid sticks up a good inch and a half. Sometimes it lifts the intake tube too so not a lot of water goes through. Any suggestions?

What type of media do you have the box - the sponges and the rings?

If sponges, maybe the sponges are a bit plugged up??


Have you looked at the impeller - maybe it's clogged up?

I have sponges, ceramic rings and a bag of crushed coral. I just pulled the media out and the sponge was pretty bad. I rinsed it out and added another on top of it so it can collect bugs and I can throw the nasty one away. So far the lid is staying down.
