what do you guys think about using the larger show pools as breeding preperation quarters for goldfish during the summer months? i'm contemplating getting one of the 8' pearls of paradise or aquosis systems for my ranchu; i like the concept of giving my fish the benefits of ponds without the permenancy of a built-in system..as i will be moving multiple times in the next few years. anyone have any experience with them? are they suitable for being kept up for extended periods of time (i.e 3-5 months at a time)? thanks in advance

I think they are pretty capable of holding water and fish for an extended period of time with no problem. I wouldn't expose them to sunlight all day long though, but other than that, it sounds fine to me. The rims should be strong enough to hold a filter just fine, if you are planning on a HOB filter. Imagine how many goldfish could fit into those things!

Hey, I have been wanting to do that as well. I was looking into several different sizes, too. I am not sure how long I will be here either and didnt want an inground pond that I couldnt take with me.
Let us know if you end up doing that and if so, where you get your pool.

I have a 200g tub on my back patio as a permanent pond. It's made of heavy duty stuff and is designed to sit aboveground. It's like those koi display ponds but the koi farm I visit use it for their goldfish too.
