Usually after a while they will just let their bubble out and float back down. One of my violet apple snails in my tropical tank has been floating at the top since this morning. There are 2 snails in there, the other is fine as well as the fish.

I checked the water and did a 20% water change just incase, but everything is normal.

He/She is floating at the top with a little of it poked out.. I saw it earlier stretch its tenacles and head fully out... I don't know what in the world is going on.

My first question would be make sure he is alive, but I kept reading the post. Sounds to me like it's still alive, just playing a little. I had a blue apple snail that loved to float. he would pick his mate up and float with her for hours at a time. When he gets tired or hungry, he will come down.

Glad to hear. Some love to float, others hate it. I think you have the first type.

It was soooo weird to see it up there for 12 hrs. just half way hangin out. Wheew, I am glad I didn't have a dead snail... I have an amazing story of a snail that I should post as a seperate thread. I was new with fish and snails and didn't know that algae removing drops for water can harm the snails...
Well yeah, I put it in there and then read the CAUTION: -- i felt horrible and did a water change, but for about 1 month the snail never moved or anything. I couldn't throw him out until I KNEW it was dead.. so I waited.. even though my BF thought I was crazy... Well about a month later it came back to it and is full throttle. I think that is a good story to remind everyone to read CAUTION labels...

Wow, that is a good reminder. I read everything twice before I use it tho, I wanna make sure I'm doig it right. I can't stand to be wrong. Glad your snail turned out to be ok in the end.

My female apple snail floated around like that when I first got her, she floated all day for a couple days on end while hanging out of her shell. It was kind of funny because she'd be waveing her tanticles around the whole time
