Full Version: Any Cure For A Rust Patch?

I need to rehome my two Apple Snails and have been looking for a cheap deal on an aquarium.

Today I found a guy that lives nears me selling a rather grubby (but cleanable) tank for 10Euro (about $7).

The only problem is he says the base of the tank is metal and has a small patch of rust.
Is this tank fit for the rubbish tip or is there anything that can be done?

I think I better forget about it. Sounds too dodgy. sad.gif

Personally, I'd pass on that tank and keep looking. Although it could be an OLD tank that used metal for the support frame. If it's one of these types of tanks and the rust spot is only on the outside of the tank on the frame... It probably wouldn't hurt anything.

I agree I'll keep looking.

From the description it seems to be an old tank with actual metal base that's a bit rusted.
I've decided to definitely pass....it's no bargain if it kills the creatures!

Yeah, I would pass too Kila. Sorry though, that would be a great deal if it were in better shape. smile.gif

All's well.
I'm too excited to be disappointed.....my 100gallon is being delivered tomorrow.

Pics will be posted next month....I'm going to do a fishless cycle first.

OMG! With a 100 gallon on the way, I guess you would be excited! Who needs the other crummy tank anyway?! laugh.gif I can't wait to see your photo.gif. Do you know how you're going to decorate it? And what are you putting in it? smile.gif
kila
Haven't even though about decorations yet! smile.gif

It'll probably be an Ornada and Ranchu/Lionhead tank.

Sooo excited!!
