Full Version: Using Softened Water

Ponderosa Power
I read through another thread about using softened water but I didn't want to butt in because my params are a lot different than one would guess. Right now I don't keep any goldfish, and keep tropicals instead.

Water Params from our softened tap water:

pH: 7.9
gH: 4ish (very very soft)
kH: 300+

Is this okay? I don't think that pH is going anywhere.

I agree with you... With a kH reading of 300, your PH is going to be as stable as the US dollar.... Well... These days maybe more stable than that. From those readings I don't see any reason that you can't use your tap water. It would be nice to know the percentage of salt in your water, but with most water softeners the salt content isn't really a problem.
