My fishes will eat broccoli if I rip off the flowery part and throw it in the water. I'm not sure if they can digest it...does anyone know?

Cook it first. It will help. Cook it just enough to soften it some, but dont cook it all the way. I dont know for sure if they will like it but yes you could try some and see. It wont hurt them.

Broccoli is good food for your goldfish. It's as good for your fish as it is for you. My fish prefer it cooked until soft. I break off a chunk and microwave it for about 1 minute 15 seconds in some tank water, put it in a veggie clip and stick it in the tank. Small goldfish are so cute eating broccoli because they daintily bite off each individual floret. My big girls tear off whole chunks. The kids in my neighborhood call my 8 1/2" black moor Broccoli Bob because she gets so excited when she's eating broccoli that she acts like a great white shark, twisting, rolling around tearing at the broccoli until she get a big piece.

Oh they already do eat it so I know they love it lots...I just wasn't sure it was ok for them. That's great! I'll boil it for a while before I toss it in the tank next time. Thanks biggrin.gif .

If you want to feed your goldfish broccoli, lettuce, spinach, etc. do your fish a favor and buy a simple $2.00 veggie clip. The veggie clip holds the food in place and makes it much easier for your fish to tear off a bite.

I have two veggie clips (it suctions to the glass wall) but when I clip stuff on it they will ignore it. I just shred up the broccoli into tiny bite-sized pieces and toss it in and watch them dash over as the peices are falling and gobble it. They don't go for clipping dry.gif .
