I have 2 platies and 2 mollies in a 10 gallon. Turns out the platies had babies! I can only see 4 and I think thats all that survived because thier pretty big (about a centimeter in length) so judging by the size of mouths thier too big to be eaten (and they have enough sence to hide) so should I seperate them? thier small and Im afraid of catching them in a net lest I hurt them. I don't have anytrhing to put them in except another 10 gallon, or a critter keeper but I have no filter for the critter keeper except a 10 gallon power filter, which I am afraid is too much current. I have a box filter thingy but It was in a QT tank and was around ich and I don't have a replacement filter. Is there any way to sterilize the filter? Help please.

if they are not to small to be eaten and you have plenty of hiding spots then i would not worry about it!
hope i was some help..

If you want to seperate them, do it. Change some water every day and they'll be fine.

I used to freak out and worry about separating the babies but honestly catching them causes an awful lot of stress. I would just add extra plants (live or fake) and let them hide out that way. We had many babies survive at work in the well-decorated tanks.

i do the same, i think if you keep the tank nicely planted, you should get most of them coming through.

Ok, thanks =D I don't think there is anymore room for plants, there are alot of low to the ground fuzzy looking plants, not to mention one of the rock formations isn't sitting flat and the mommy hides there and the babies don't seem to be afraid of her (at least one of them isn't) Thanks all!

congrats on those babies! Fry are really vulnerable, the slighest change can sometimes do them right in,so it really is best to let them be. Java moss is a great Fry hider if you do go for more plants.Good luck.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a343/nomadfkr/DSC00079.jpgthis is my daughters baby tank it is a critter cage,25 watt heater, corner sponge filter i split air from her other 10 gal.
You could use bleach to clean your filter then let it sit in hot water for a bit the change water and add some decholinator that will work GOOD LUCK with your little guys
