Alright, my snail tank has under gone a transformation and I keep forgetting to go to the store to buy batteries for my cam so I couldn't take any photos till now. So let's get started!

Remember my baby? (The little dot on the top) . I thought he was a brig baby and was upset cuz I thought I killed off a whole clutch but then you wonderful people told me that it was a "pest" snail. But I kept him nonethe less. Also note how my tank looks (bare with nothing in it really)

Here is a photo of baby Ralph (on the leaf) with the brigs at the back for size comparison. The brigs are about the size of a loonie.

Here's my re-decorated 10gal snail tank! All the plants are real except 2 (one is plastic and one is silk).

Yes yes you probably think the gravel is ugly. I do too! It's a mix of yellow, blue, brown....they were actually divided nicely to three components with uniform color for my bettas but then my bettas died and I just mixed all the gravel up and have been too lazy to haul new gravel home from the pet store. I was thinking how white gravel would make the tank look nicer.

Anywho, photos of the residents:

smile.gif Your photos are fantastic! I love snails, they are so much fun to watch! exactly.gif

Baby Ralph is so cute. heartpump.gif

They must love having a 10 gal tank. I have a ten gal for my snails, but have not been able to stop using it for a QT tank. Soon, I hope!

Thanks for sharing!

My, how's he's grown Amy!! Wow.

I feel sad about my little pest! I think I told you that he came home attached to my new Apple Snail. I decided to keep him too. This was over 3 weeks ago and I never saw him again. I don't know if my goldies sucked him up or not but he's gone with no sign of his empty shell. Even if he was just hiding, he must be dead by now because I recently had to salt my tank up to 0.3%. Sorry little snail but I couldn't find you.

Your snails and tank look great.

Personally I like the gravel. I am prone to mixing to come up with my own custom color. biggrin.gif If you are looking for a new substrate for your snail tank have you considered Agramax sand? It will be the perfect buffer for hardness and pH for the health of their shells. I use it myself. Takes a LOT of the work out of getting my pH and hardness right in the tank. Plus, I think it's easier to vacuum than gravel. biggrin.gif It is made of crushed coral and is white, which seems to be the color you want since you mentioned white gravel. I can give you a link if you want.

Thanks for the comments smile.gif

I'm sorry to hear about your little pest snail Kila sad.gif I would suspect the goldies because they do munch on pest snails as snacks.

I have always thought sand was harder to maintain? I'm just afraid my siphon would suck it right up. I would love to see a link for the substrate Lady_Dodecagon - you've got me interested biggrin.gif

Sorry to get back to this so late. Here is the link:
Aragramax Sand

The first one, the sugar sized, is what is needed for snails. It has tiny grains and they are not irritating to the snails. You can find it in any LFS with a saltwater section or online at places like Drs. Foster and Smith

AND are they in water

Ponderosa Power
Yes, all the snails shown are fully aquatic.

I am another one who really likes your gravel....the mixed look is great.
I had a snail tank once with white gravel...it doesn't stay a pretty white very long though dry.gif
