Been looking at everyones pics and posts over the last few
days and really had no idea fish were such big business.

when we got our fish we just got some pond people to put
a heap of them in a bucket and go from their and have
spent $100 dollars on 5 koi that after looking at pics are
lovely but quite ordinary. Geeze now Im going to get
interested in this stuff can just see it. My current babies
will always be special and beautiful, but going to be choosier
when choosing! Might go find some fish now!!

Can I suggest you look somewhere that carries the japanese imports. Almost all domestics will never develop the way a japanese import will. The domestics will probably be bigger and fatter but the colors just can't compete. When it comes too quality you just can't beat the japanese. It can also take SEVERAL years for certain varieties too show their true beauty. With my limited budget I have been trying too pick some japanese babies with future potential but that is always a ###### shoot. I finally splurged for the first and last time(I hope) on a truly beautiful 2 year old japanese import and could not be happier. I wish you a happy koi hunting!

I originally started out with just Koi and Comets. I now have Koi, comets, Shubunkins, Orandas, Lionheads and Ryunkins. Keep in mind Koi are mudders so any potted plants need to have rock or something on the tops otherwise the Koi will just dig through them.

Good luck.
