I was just going to ask if it would be a good thing for me to keep my fish food refrigerated? I have been feeding my goldfish Pro Gold, Spirulina, and Omega flakes that I have never kept in the refrigerator. Should I move them to the refrigerator and start keeping it that way? I guess it just never dawned on me that the refigerator was classified as a cool, dark and dry place. I would think that there is too much moisture in there. But then I was reading my Fany Goldfish Book and I saw that it is good to keep the foods in there. Does everyone agree with this? Thanks in advance to your responses.

Personally I would never keep commercial fishfood in the fridge. Fluctuating cold temps however small make moisture- esp dangerous for often porous cardboard fishfood packages. ..You can prob. see the condensation inside your fridge on the sides or top.
If your fishfood is in plastic pots it may be okay but I've still never heard of this.
Well right now I just have my food resting on one of the shelves below my fish tank. And when I saw the refrigerator comment I just didn't think it sounded like a good idea so I was just checking to see if anyone kept their food in there. I guess I will continue to leave my food on the shelf until I hear that there may be a better place for it. I just want to keep it as fresh as possible, as it seems I have had these bags of food for awhile and just hope they stay fresh for my fish.

I don't want to alarm you any Vex but I did read that fish food should be chucked out after max. 6 months storage - never mind the sell-by-date-. It picks up moisture and goes smelly and can lower your fishies immune system if its not fresh. I try and replace my food by 5 months. I only buy small pots.
On the other hand I'm sure there are people out there who use the same food for a year and their fish are fine..your call.
Ah ok, well its good to know how long you usually keep yours. I have had my bag of Pro Gold for about 5mnths and it is only about half empty so it would be good to know if it will stay fresh longer. It is in a nice sealeable bag.
