I woke up this morning to some VERY CRANKY goldfish.... When I went to bed last night I set my new heater at 75 just to keep the temp consistent. During the day my tank stays at around 80 on its own and at night can drop down to around 76. I got the heater now so that if there were any problems I could work them out before winter when the tank can get down to 72 or lower. Its a 29 gallon tank. Well I got up this morning and the temp was at 86

! So much for the 1 degree accuracy. My poor fish were plastered to the glass looking at me like what the heck did you do to us lady. My oto was swimming around like mad. Several hours and several frozen water bottle changes later things are back to normal and the gang is happy again. I found out that BIGALS has a great return policy. My question now is what should I replace it with? It was a VieAqua 150 watt titanium, which from talking to customer service is a new product for them that they have experienced some problems with. The rep recommended I go back to the glass model submersible and use a Jager 150 watt. He did say that they are all labeled with water lines per Canadian regulations but are completely safe to use submerged. Anyone have any experience with this brand? I also finally broke down and got my Rena 300 ordered. Yippy! I have Renas on both of my 40 gallons and on my 10 gallon barb tank. LOVE THEM........
