~ Hey ~ I was wondering if someone could please tell me which they prefer for their tank becuase i had one that was sticky and stuck to the outside and then i bought one today that mounts on the inside!

Which ones are better?

Outside sticky therometers or mount inside suction cup therometers!

Thanks!

Just from the location of the thermometers, I'd say the inside ones would be more reliable. I have the sticky ones to the outside for the reptiles, but the inside kind for the fish. I feel that the outside kind gets effected by room temperature, but that is just me... smile.gif

Definately inside. However, I use an LED type digital thermometer with a probe in the tank and the display on the outside. So far its accurate against a standard inside thermometer

I vote inside too, and they aren't too much more expensive than the sticky kind. I like to have a thermometer near the heater and a sticky on the other side of the tank to make sure there isn't a hug temp change, especially in the larger tanks. Its also good to keep the heater near the filter so the heat is better dispersed

yea, but they always cut the hole for the heater on the opposite side of the hood from the filter smile.gif

i had two glass suction cup thermometers in my 72 from when i set my heater (and from one end to the other, there was only a very slight difference in temp, which i guess means my circulation is good), but i recently moved one into my goldie tank out of curiosity, leaving the one on the far side from the heater so i can tell at a glance if my heater is working for the entire tank.

never tried the stick on kind. so i guess i don't have anything to add here. one would wonder why i'm posting then biggrin.gif just bored i guess.

I have both... THe suction cup one is in with my betta and I have sticky ones for my frog and guppy tanks. I personally like the sticky ones better. My suction cup one doesn't stay secure on the glass very well and slides to the bottom of the tank constantly -_- The sticky ones don't collect all that algea and such the others do which is nice also smile.gif

Both read accurately as far as I can tell. I keep mine on the opposite side from the heater as well.

Hehe, I slipped the cord down near the opening for the filter so my heater is just to the left of the filter outlow biggrin.gif I have a small airline tube where the heater opening is instead. I like the air stone on the opposite side of the filter so it doesn't push the little fishies into the intake tube -_- LoL
