Ponderosa Power
I am still thinking about getting some ghost shrimp for my tropical tank, but one thing is holding me back.I heard that ghost shrimp need hard and alkaine water, but I have soft, alkaline water (I have a water softener). Its very soft and the gH is around 8-10.

One last bump!

No one seems to know the answer so I think I'll go ahead and try it soon, maybe this week. I know they're sensitive to pH so I hope they make it when I acclimate them. 7 to 7.9 is a pretty big difference.

blink.gif Sorry Kissy as I haven't dealt with Ghost Shrimp and haven't really had time to go0gle. I have Cherry Shrimp that do good, but no dealings with Ghosts. sad.gif

No worries Devs. I meant that "no one seems to know the answer" as in this forum, others, AND go0gle tongue.gif I guess it'll end up as an experiment. I'll only try 5 or so right away. If it didn't work out, do you think it would be that they get sick and die soon after or would be more of a thing that would shorten their lifespans?

I'm not sure.I was reading though and most things said that they can tolerate a wide range in ph.Test the pet store's when you get them. Pour them in a bucket and just very slowly add to theirs. I bet they'll be okay if you do it like that. smile.gif

If the store is at 7 and my pH is at 7.9, about how long should I acclimate for?
