i know this is strange question but can Doko's breath out of water?? the reason why i ask is that i have one that sits on top of the filter, and i found it when i was home from uni, with its head out of the water, at first i thought it had died so i nudged it and it swam off. later that day i found it again with its head out of the water, so i moved it again. later on at night it was sat there again, so i decided i had to move the filter further down into the water because i was worried about it.
it can escape from the tank because i have put stuff to cover the holes where the wire comes out and the tubes. is there any reason why it would do this?

The dojo loach has often been described as the perfect beginners fish because of its extreme hardiness. It can withstand high ammonia with no problem, and even if one does escape from your tank, it is likely to live up to a few days without any serious problems outside of the tank.

I dont think they can breathe out of water, but i wouldnt worry, if he can swim back down when he feels like it im sure theres nothing wrong.. probably just being strange, like Dojos do

its just that one of mine died the other day after escaping from the tank, and it only must have been a few hours out of the tank.
Im not worried anymore about it, i was more curious really, ive had them b4 and i know that they do strange things. it just seemed strange that it was sat out of the water thats all
