Hey all! I got the 55 gallon today that I won off Ebay. The guy delivered it over and helped us bring it up. To be honest, Im a little shocked at its size! But anyways, here are some pics. I still have to add an air pump and another filter.

smile.gif Its so much fun setting up a new tank! heartpump.gif Lookslike you got a great deal! exactly.gif

Did you get the stand with it?

What kind of filters are you going to use?
glitterfish
Thanks, vmlola! biggrin.gif

I did get the stand with it! I am using an Aquaclear 110 (500gph) and a smaller Aquaclear that does 100 gph to cover what the other one cant handle. smile.gif

smile.gif Good combo on the filters. I find that extra filtration on my 55 gal tank really keeps the water clean and the chemistry right on and with the added benefit of the bio-wheels I have not had a problem with my water.

Of course we will want to see pics when your finished! smile.gif exactly.gif

Phooey, the pictures will not load for me, darm it! unless you already took them off the hosting site?

Glitterfish-it's so nice! You have a pretty pink and green theme going there and the tank is really long so the fish get so much swim-stretching. It looks like you have an ideal wall space there that it fits centrally into but doesn't jut out too muchtoo. It's going to be awesome with fish in. Keep us posted! smile.gif

Looking good and I love the decor! So are you gonna put a background on it? It would be cool if you could find one to fit in with your decorating theme.
toothless
Great tank! biggrin.gif Your going to like having a big ol tank like that. exactly.gif

Not trying to be a pain in the neck, but it would help GREATLY if you were to extend your intake tubes all the way to the bottom of the tank. Debris, poo and uneaten food tend to settle at the bottom and having the intakes right at the bottom allows the filters to do a much more efficient job. wink.gif You can extend them by purchasing a few lengths of vinyl tubing from your local home improvment center. Should be more than a couple dollars at max. Just measure the outter diameter of the tubing that is on the filter and purchase the lengths of vinyl with an inner diameter one size smaller.

If the intakes are 3/4 outter diameter, then buy 5/8 [B]inner diameter vinyl tubing.

Then, just push the new tubing over the intake and the intake extension until you have the screen part of the intake right at the bottom.

This REALLY helps keep your water sparkiling clean...... biggrin.gif

good luck!
glitterfish
Thanks all! heartpump.gif

And toothless, I was thinking I had to lengthen the intakes as well but I wasnt sure how to go about going it. Thanks so much. smile.gif

smile.gif It looks Great and I know how tired I was after setting up mine. heartpump.gif

You did such a wonderful job! Isn't it fun?

BTW, OT, I see you live in NY, did you get any of the snow storm? I'm from Connecticut originally, but my family is still all there and my Mom called this morning and said they got about 24in. sad.gif I'm kind of jealous as we can't even get a proper rain storm here! exactly.gif

Good luck with your tank, have fun.

What fish are you planning on putting in there? smile.gif
glitterfish
OH YEAH!! We got lots of snow here in the city. Yuck. Its not so bad if you dont have to go out. Think Id rather have snow though. Im from MN and it was BAD there for snow though so I shouldnt complain! biggrin.gif

Thanks Dells, Im putting my orandas in there for sure. Have to think about how Im going to seperate them up! smile.gif
glitterfish
Ok, here is the tank now. I made a rock "formation" type in the middle and moved things around a bit. I want to get a taller plant for the center and also still need a background. biggrin.gif
