months and months ago, i bought 3 ghost shrimp to put into my goldfish tank. Blackie was about 3" back then (head to tail).

i got the shrimp since they're scavengers and thought perhaps they might help keep the tank a bit cleaner. well...didn't quite work out since 2 weeks later, i couldn't find them anymore. i did, however, syphon out a shrimp head during a cleaning.

well, i guess the fishy must've liked it. but has anyone fed their goldfish ghost shrimp? is it a good treat? or highly unsuggested?

i figure it provides him with a good chase and hunt. and some protein?

Goldfish will eat anything that can fit into their mouth. You can buy freeze tried shrimp and frozen shrimp. I wouldnt recommend feeding them live food... mainly because there is the possibility the fish/live food could be diseased, and cause your fish to get sick.

Ghost shrimps are okay, but for protein concern I recommend hikari blood worms;(semicolon goes here) good for guys on a budget, and excellent in delivering proteins.

no idea if that sort of excersise is good though...

To this concern I suggest you search the food forum, for cultivation systems, cultivated ghost shrimps should be parasite free

I use to put in ghost shrimp with my GF... I thought GF being GF they are very gentle...but what I found out is that my GF espescially the ryukin just love to chase them and kill them...I don't mind if they eat them but they just kill the poor shrimp and left it rot
