My little black moor Sushi whon't eat anything or well at least I haven't seen him eat anything.. All he dose is flot at the top of the tank lay on the bottem or hide in the tarcota pot i have for my dojo's.
And when he dose come out to swim he runs into everything. I know they have bad eye sight but my other moor is fine when it comes to swimming.
sushie was skinny when I got him yes but he has not been putting on any either.
I went a head and moved him to a tank of his own aka the hospital tank to see if that helped. Water there is perfect since i did just refill it. and that tank has and under ground filter and air pump. Temp is kept low to help with air in the water.

IS there anything I can do to help him? With out haveing to spend to much money.. I'm a little broke till saterday due to speanding my nicely earned money on new filters and oter fish needs.. any help would be loved. and I do hope I am not in the wrong form topic thingy if so gomen.
Again thank you in advance.

Hi,Sorry to hear that Sushi's not feeling up to par. I noticed that all your readings are at 0,which is kind of odd considering that the tank's been running for 4 weeks. What kind of test or kit do you use,and have you had any readings besides 0?
As for your Ph,it is on the lower side. How do you raise the level to 6.8 in the tank?
As for Sushi, does it seem more like he can't see,or is he kind of "scratching" up against things? Does he have any other symptoms such as frayed/torn fins/gasping/swollen or very pale tattered gills, etc?

Sudina, I see that you have 2 threads running. It is best to keep just one. I will merge them together. Please try and keep all the info in one thread. Thanks.

well the only test kit I have at the time is the paper one that I think only shows one thing.. on other i had my mom check with this other thing she still has, for she use to work in a petshop and said the wather was fine... I also did a 50% water change on my 55 gal and have sushi in a tank i just cleaned with fersh water along with some stress coat from API to see if that would do any good. as for raising it.. well I didn't do anything it just raised...
And he hasn't run into anything but to be on the safe side i have nothing in there with him and every thing is a nice curve no points. Mainly waht it is is it seems he can't see yet his eyes lok fine to me. and also he is not eating.. he finds the food.. puts in mouth and spits it back out like it dosen't taste good yet all the other fish love it.
I have no clue what his deal is and fear i may only be perlonging his life and not helping to much. I want him to get better yet.. don't know what to do. Mom sujested that he may have cataracts (don't know if fish get them) for now his eyes do look a little foggy yet not to much.. only way you can tell is if you look at him when he has his tail turned twards you.
Thank you for the help

Sundina can you post what the levels were? We need actual numbers not just an "ok" about them. This is vital information and to help with diagnosis it is a necessary tool. Thanks.

That be a problem.. Only test kit i have is the remaints of one back when I had my tropic tank.. the papper water ine.. and acourding to the papper it's green so box says "safe" that's all i know as for testing.. mom has anther kit.. but I do not know how to work it.. n o directions for it was from when she was working at a pet stoer... wish I could tell you more but that's all i have untill payday..
LaurieP
If these tests are very old they can be expired too. I think it would be a wise choice to buy new ones when you get the chance.

Safe can mean perfect to almost perfect and that "almost" can risk lives.

Yeah.. I am getting more once I get paid.. spent to much money on food when I thought I had already gotten a new test kit.. I realy do need to remember these things. Anyway do you think a salt bath would help him or make him worse? I am open for anything that I can do to help him at all
LaurieP
What I would do is a 30-50% water change. When are you going to be able to get the tests. The lfs can test them for free, just have them right down the numbers to post here.
You can add 1 tsp of salt per gal of water, but remember you have to be careful and know exactly how much salt is in there.
And when you do changes you remove that much salt. So you will have to keep a record of how much salt goes in and out.
Sudina
ok that I can do.. see if he eats anything first then try adding the salt.. and as for when I get the tests.. tomarrow payday so most likey then if I can't borrow money today
LaurieP
Sounds good, keep us posted.
Sudina
