I know your goldie didn't loose its whole eye though. I'd think the fish would be fine, but if a fish before has died of this, then I really don't know! Koko should be able to help you more than I can!! Sorry! But i found this!!

Eye Loss Occasionally this does occur. The eye may be lost due to a fight with another fish, or running into a sharp object. The eye may become detached from the socket leaving the fish blind. The loss of an eye is not necessarily traumatic for the fish. They can still live a relatively normal life with only one eye.
Symptoms: The fish's eye is detached from the socket or is punctured. The fish may have depth perception problems when swimming or eating.

no, theres many other goldies in the tank with it, they don't seem to be bothering him so far. It's a 75G. Im already treating a case (BAD) of protruding eye(popeye?) in my 29G hospital tank with tetracycline. Should i put him in that tank with the medicine or leave him?

I would leave him. placing him in a tank with meds that wont do a good thing for him just stress him out/ I would add Melafix to the main tank this will help everyone else in ther too

I would put it in a hospital tank, use some melafix, and it should heal very quickly.

DO NOT SEPARATE HIM!!!

My bubble eye's sac popped and it grew back fine. Separating him from the other's will just stress him out. I am so stressing this because I too was worried about it when it popped but it won't hurt the other fish (meaning the fluid in the sac) and it will grow back all on it's own. Sometimes it won't grow back fully, but mine's did

Also, melafix is not needed as long as it heals within a reasonable time frame. It took my bubble eye about 4 weeks to heal competely. I didn't use any meds, just make sure that the water quality is perfect so that there is no way an infection can happen

re:

My bubble eye had both of his bubble sacs pop. When they got really big, he bacame a really clumsy swimmer.
He bumped into the filter intake and it sucked his bubble sac in.
I put him in a quarantine tank and used melafix for a few days to keep the injurie from becoming infected and from fungus. In about 3 days, I noticed that the bubble sac started to regrow. It grow slowly and his didn't grow back perfectly. But he survived.
I really, really recommend Melafix for injuries.

I am not sure but from my experience with bubble eye's they aren't that fragile. Did he get an infection? Popping one of his sacs could not have done it.

re:

My bubble eye popped one of his bubble twice and survived. I don't think it died as a direct result of it. It might be something else. Maybe some sort of infection from something in the water.
