My tank is still cycling so this question is pertaining to later issue.
Once the tank is cycled I'm planning to change the water once a week, but how often should the decorations (fake plants, rocks, etc.) should be cleaned? I heard once a week is a necessity, while I also heard once a month is good because there will be good bacteria that shouldn't be gotten rid of often...
I'll be waiting for any advice.
Thanks!

I hardly ever clean my decorations. I cleaned the plastic plants in a bleach solution a coulpe weeks ago. Other than that I never clean my decorations. Except my rocks need scrubbed every now and again.

My answer is about the same. While I am doing my quarter water change each week I look around the tank. I move every decoration because ecky stuff gets under and in them! I vaccuum that out! Every now & then I scrub a shell, rock or whatever if it starts looking brownish! I use a special toothbrush that I got only for the tank.

clean it when it looks dirty. Your good bacteria is in your filter and gravel mostly. Dont worry about it on the plants and other decorations

I don't clean the plants or rock unless they are covered in algae. It is a preferance thing. As long as the cycle is good there shouldn't be a problem.

cool!
I guess the decorations and all will be fine for a while.
Thanks all!
