well, my x-large female guppy finally popped last night! there must be about 30 odd babies!!
i have a bottle of live-bearer liquifry, and they are all in the 12gal...
the water is slightly salted because the mum had slight mouth rot when i got her smile.gif
so, is ther anything else i can do for them? i havent fed them yet, as they were only born last night, i take it i should feed them sometime tomorrow?
i have tried taking pics, but they are sooo small, i will keep trying smile.gif

Congratulations! I love baby guppies. They are so cute, and they grow fast smile.gif

You could start feeding them after a day. You can also crush up flake food very finely and feed them that, along with your liquid fry food. Guppies are quite large when they are born, so they are easy to feed. You will also see them picking at any algae on plants or in the tank. Try to give them 4 - 5 feedings a day and you will have to watch your water quality.

Please keep us posted on their progress.

thanks hun, i guess i should go and feed them then biggrin.gif
the tank is barebottom at the mo, coz i like to see if there are any dead ones i have to take out.. none as yet smile.gif
how often should i do water changes on them? i have a fluval 2 in the tank at the mo, its just about right for them, and its facing the wall so they dont get blown about by the water flow spit.gif:how much water should i take out at a time? i know i should do it with a piece of airline...

congrats! Do answer your question you might want to do water changes about once or 2 in two weeks!

Thanks! Yeah! You do not want to do a gravel vac becuase it will suck up the babies, but if you get them before it goes down the sink, becuase i use a bucket and if it goes into the bucket then i empty the water and then when i acidently sucked one up i just used the net and got it out!

Thanks!
Hope i was a help!

thanks Dean. i think i might have to do a water change more than once in 2 weeks tho.. even if its just to get rid of un-eaten food. smile.gif As touch of sky said, you need to keep a very careful eye on params with fry smile.gif

I use the airline tubing as a siphon and siphon of the bottom of the tank every couple of days, especially if you see bits of food and debris accumulating. I would do that, and take out about 25% of the water.

You will know when the babies are eating well, because you will see their tummies fill up laugh.gif
