Years ago I had found a couple of bubble disks at a show and I have loved them ever since. I have never found any, though.

The other day, in PetSmart, I found 3 different sizes of bubble disks available. They are not the same brand - (Tetrafin or something - the lower end - but they look good and solid and reliable!) but I am happy.

I am now glueing stones in a "fort" type shape - a circle that will go over the bubble disk. When done, the bubbles will come up from a circle of stones that have plants incorporated in them. IT will be easy to clean (just pick it up) and loads of fun bubbles for the fish to play in.

I got the 6 inch disk for my "big guy" tank - that way there are enough bubbles to lift even the most massive of fishes. Now Rocky can play in bubbles, too! biggrin.gif

(THe 6 inch disk needs an entire half of the new blue larger Whisper air pump to power it, though. THere is a lot of area there!)

I just noticed those disks the other day at my local Petsmart and wondered if anyone had them as I haven't seen any threads about them.

That sounds like a lot of fun for your fish, daryl!! Very creative and I bet it will look really cool too!!

Thanks for sharing! I may just have to try one! smile.gif

I have a 4" bubble disk in my 30 gallon but it annoys me. Its a bright TEAL color and I have to cover it with stones everytime I gravel vac.

Thats such a great idea, daryl with covering yours. Can you take a picture when youre done? biggrin.gif

are bubble disks those things that suction onto the side of the aquarium, and have like plastic beneath and above a little white "filter" looking sheet and they screw together and bubbles come out the middle where the "filter" paper is held in place?

haha did that make ANY sense at all? rofl3.gif

Will do.

The bright teal of the ones I have is annoying. I put them in the back and have loads of plants in the front (bare bottom tanks).

These new ones are bright blue! They are just as bad as the teal ones. This time, however, I thought it would be more fun to make a ring of rocks for these rings are bigger - and I have been inspired by Toothless's creativity with rock formations and such. IT sounds like a fun project for a winter's afternoon. smile.gif

heartpump.gif I have a bubble disk in my 55 gal. Its blue in color. I got it from Petsmart!

I cover it with the gravel and my three goldfish uncover it at night rolleyes.gif
I know its them as it does not happen during the day!

I like the idea of glueing stones to it though. One less thing to have to put back in place in the morning. yikes.gif

Thanks Daryl! heartpump.gif

Tinkokeshi... They look like this. smile.gif

daryl ~ What do you use to glue the rocks together?

I have always used Aquarium Sealant for my past constructions, but, after a few bleachings, they usually fall apart. So this time, I am going to try a gel super glue - a gap filling one. Toothy says super glues are inert and good for tanks, so I bought a tube. I hope it works well. I am carefully selecting stones from my collection, but I plan to make a trip to the stone company and see if I can find any ones with a flat bottom for the bottom round. I want some red ones and maybe some white quartz.

Yay!! Please let me know how it turns out. Im tired of this thing floating away in the current!!! laugh.gif

Same here! biggrin.gif

I have a bubble disc boxed up with other aq "stuff". Yours may inspire my creative side to bring it back out.

I'm like the others, the purple base "ain't" it. They are also hard to keep down. Especially if you have bare bottoms like I do.

Right now I have fine bubble stones that are suction cupped to the glass. They do a good job. I just like to switch things sometimes.
daryl
I suction cup mine to the bare bottom, too. It works well.....

Even with the rock ring, I will probably still suction cup it down.....I do not know.
