unsure.gif omg omg omg.. i think my tank is close to going through the floor, its only 15 gallons but the weight is all directed onto about 1.5 square ft of floor, and its started to move up and down and make a cracking sound when i step near it! the water actually wobbles so i know its moving. ignore.gif
I have not been able to sleep since sunday coz im so scared!
i think there might be water under the stand that i cant get to, from the incident on sunday morning (see horror board) and its seeping into the wood making it floppy..
the tank is near a corner so i could move it there where there would definatly be a joist right?
the floor seems to have fallen about an inch also, but thats about 2 ft away from the tank near the corner.. blink.gif
if this tank goes through the floor i am sooo dead, its not insured so it will cost us a bomb to fix the damage, including a new boiler as the boiler is right underneath, along with the microwave, fridge, washing machine, tumbledryer, and mums fishtank.. so that two fishtanks and all the fish!

please help im sooooooooooooooooooooo desperate!!!!!
I really think it gunna give way soon!!!!!

quickly take out all the fish, put them in a bucket with an aerator, and drain the tank. we'll think about relocating the tank later after all are secure

ok im on it! thankyouuuuu

What kind of floor have u got there? really weird for only a 15 gallon tank to make a dent on the floor
Bak2it
I agree with d golem, a 15 gallon tank will weigh under 125 pounds, and any floor should support that much weight.

If enough water spilled on the floor to do damage to the floor boards, there should also be obvious water damage to the ceiling underneath where the tank sits.

Theres nothing obvious.. i dont think *goes to look* not down here anyway, iv yet to see under the tank stand.
Its empty now, its not all bad if theres nothing wrong, i needed to empty it anyway to replace the top of the stand and the polystyerene.

the floor is a regular chipboard type (i think its chipboard) floorboarding.. with fake wooded (laiminate) flooring.

Heres a pic of what space etc. i have to work with.. maybe i could just swap the desk with the tank and it would be in strong corner? They say that the outer corners of the house are the strongest.

Edit: im going barebottom too.. so that should help a bit?

My floor moves when I go near my tanks as well Lucy and theya re downstairs. Im not too worried about it and its a 55 gallon.
Take a look as to which way the laminate flooring is running, if its from the wall to you as you look at the tank then its fine, but if its running horizontal with the tank then try to move it so the tank is sitting on a lot of boards rather than two or three.

The laminates running along with the length of the tank, not sure if i could move it into that corner and turn it.. see the pic.. but im not sure the laminate would make much difference to that amount of water, its the floor underneath, it never used to make the noise it makes now, its a really loud crunch.
I wouldnt be worrying so much if they were downstairs, it just the fact the its not! and my mum overreacts to this sort of thing.. which has probably polished off on me.. rolleyes.gif
oh deary me..

i have a dentist appointment in an hour so il be gone soon, the fish are gunna have to stay in the bucket while im gone, i hope i dont loose a dojo.. unsure.gif none of them were very impressed.

You lying on the bed must be heavier than the tank and you have a stack of drawers which are heavier as well.
Honestly I wouldnt worry about it as most floor boards are really strong enough to carry a lot of weight.
It may just be a loose floorboard but im sure it wont break.
