When I moved mine I used a 7-11 Big Gulp cup. One at a time would swim into the cup and I would gently transfer them to the bigger tank. smile.gif

It worked so well and no one was stressed by a net. rolleyes.gif I know some people just pick their fish up with their hands to transfer them. I could probably do that now but at the time my fish were not secure with being handled! Now they are.

As far as the Guppies go, I would leave them in your existing tank.

Good luck with your new tank!

biggrin.gif Congrats on the bigger tank for your fish,I'm sure they'll love it.I also use a big tupperware type bowl to catch my goldies in.Doesn't bother them in the least. As for the guppies, well,if your Goldies catch them, they'll eat them! yikes.gif laugh.gif Guppies are tropicals, and really shouldn't be kept with Goldies. Good luck!!

i also find that tupperware bowls work well. something that is somewhat translucent or transparent i think might cause less stress when being caught. i know i would probably freak out if i found a huge colored bowl coming up around me. biggrin.gif g'luck on the transfer! hehe we'd love to see pics of your new setup! heartpump.gif

Depending on the size of the fish I use ziploc plastic bags. They range in size from the sandwich size to 2.5 gallon bags. My largest fish (about 8-9 inches) fit nicely in the 2.5 gallon bag. I put them in the bag with water from their tank and transfer them that way and acclimate the same as if they were just brought home. Float for a few minutes and add water and so forth. The nice thing is you know the water is clean and when it comes time to release in the tank you can open the bag and let them swim out.
Hope this helps.
