Okay so I decided I want a flame gourami. They are slightly different than the red dwarf gourami I found out and I really like it! I'll probably only be able to have one in my tank of 6 black neons (when I get them) right? Thats okay tho..my tank needs more color. I just gotta find a place that has them...

Hmm yes cories.... I dunno if I'll be able to keep neons a flame gourami and cories all in a ten gallon. I'm sure the aquaclear could handle it, but I don't want them to be too crowded. So many decisions!

That's a good site, I used to browse their too when I was thinking of going tropical. I think a flame gourami looks very nice. I am rather partial to the blue ones.

Annette,Years ago I bought a pair of Blue,and a pair of Honey-My Blue male killed them all except for his mate and once he decided that he wanted her,he was trying to kill her too.I had to actually seperate them.I have had them for years now,I just lost the female from temp problems during my move,but the male shares a tank with two Dojo's and is still cranky as ever.

Yah I can't wait either! I kind of have to though...because I need to go to the store to buy potassium permaganate to disinfect the qt tank and then for incoming plants before I actually use it for new fish. I've been waiting about a month...it doesn't look like I'll get to the store soon either because no one wants to take me. I'm a patient girl though

I decided I do want a gourami instead of the cories. My tank would need a bit more color if I went with black neons and cories as opposed to the gourami and he'd make a nice "centerpeice".

probably not...dwarf gouramis need at least 5 gallons to themselves (keep in mind the tankmate's separate space needs too) and can be pretty sensitive to poor water quality.

yea, your catfish really could use a friend. but he'll only really be friends with fish of the same breed. so i would suggest concentrating on that for now.

on top of the valid points kissy makes, gourami's will eat the young ur livebearers produce when you do breed them again; but you would have an impossible time getting gourami's to breed for ya at all.

That's part of their appeal towards me. Not only are they cool fish, but they can be my goldfish substitute They had 5-7 or so....ACK!! I need to buy, treat, and plant my tank before I buy new fishies heh. I hope they last til then.

I went back today to buy plants and such and I checked on them. They were still there! They still all look very healthy and active. They are labled as cinnamon gouramis or something, but they are only $4. That's half the price of the red flame dwarf gourami (looks similar but not the same thing). I should be able to get one next week. Yay I'm so happy!
