ohmy.gif Hope someone can help. We have a newly established pond
This morning I was watering the plants and noticed that all the
fish were chasing the biggest fish in the pond. So thinking they
were picking on her, I moved her to the KOI pond for a rest. Now after
reading your comments, I believe she is ready to lay eggs. Have
I stuffed it up by moving her, will she still lay eggs if I put her
back in when I get home this evening or is it too late?

Also should I keep any possible eggs in the pond she is in or move
them to the middle stream where there are no fish.

The pond water is now crystal clear and filled with rocks- looks like
a river bed. Lots of crevices for eggs to hide. What are your suggestions? Any helpgreatly appreciated, new at this

Fish can go on in the breeding mood for days to come, especially in a pond with the right conditions. So, I would suggest putting the fish back into her original pond, and you could see some more activity in the morning.
The adult fish in the pond will go after all the eggs they can find, and eggs stick to anything and everything in your pond - plants, rocks, ornaments, anything. They could get lucky falling in between the rocks, but goldies are very good in scavanging around. If you have a spot in your pond thats not accessable for the adult fish, and rather a quiet spot, transport rocks or plants with eggs sticking on them to that spot.
The nice thing about a pond is, that there is plenty of natural food there for small fry, and if the eggs get fertilized, you have not that much to do and feed, to keep them alive. My husband has little koi of about 2 inch size now, and he feeds them twice a day and everything, but they eat their little hearts out on all kinds of things - mosquito larvae, algae from the pond walls and rocks, little insects landing in the pond, and so for...
Good luck, and tell us whats happening! wav.gif
