Graham does not like lettuce! But, I would like to start feeding him more fresh food - what do you think of seaweed? Can I hang strands of it form a lettuce clip?
Or so you cut it into squares and feed like flakes?

I don't want to make any more gel food right now because I already have too much at the moment and GN seems to be having difficulty with high protein foods right now... hence the interest in seaweed - he is eating too many peas and needs more variety and nutrition. THANKS! smile.gif

I've used the dehydrated stuff before and the kids liked it. Fresh stuff should be even better.

I do! I buy fresh dried from a seller on ebay, I soak it and slice it into tiny pieces and drop it in, they love finding it as a treat.

Be warned, if you buy it, a little goes a LONG way. I had to soak and then chop because it really can expand a lot.

All my fish eat seaweed. If you want to try it on your fish, just start out with little pieces in a veggie clip until they learn it's food. If the fish don't eat it, take it out, because it will break up when it gets wet and make a mess in the tank.

Save yourself a buck or two and buy Nori (sushi wrappers) instead of something like Ocean Nutrition Marine Algae Seaweed Selects. The Seaweed Selects sell for about $3 you can get the same amount of Nori for $1

Something else you can try that my goldfish LOVE is broccoli. Just take a small floret, nuke it for about 45 seconds in some tank water and put it in the tank in a veggie clip. The little kids in my neighborhood call my big black moor "Broccoli Bob" because he likes it so much.

Interesting, is this the wrappers you are talking about? Because the whole seweed I use stays together in the water, just like real seaweed. What kind breaks apart?
Graham
Thanks for all your replies! I can't wait to see if they will eat it!

I was wondering about that becuase the grocery store sells Nori and I was wondering - if it is seaweed - what is the difference?! So, I can get it there? OK!

Now I am confused blink.gif I am not familiar with any seaweed that expands...
Is it a seawood wafer you are feeding? What kind of seaweed is it?

That would be nice! Where do you buy fresh seaweed? Do you sterilize it?

I will try Broccoli, too, and tell Graham that Broccoli Bob eats all of his up, like a good fish! laugh.gif

I jsut don't want to feed really messy things - like oranges... in fact, I am trying something - a liquid Vitamin C (by Kent) - I am going to soak the spirulina flakes in a (very very tiny) drop of it instead of water to soften the sinking flakes - which I feed by hand anyway. I hope it will give Graham the boost his system really needs! He is getting probiotics now, too.

PS - Jean eats anything and everything, including ignore.gif (poopy)! Yuck!

I guess I should have been more specific, I lumped in veggies with *weed*

I use Kelp, Ulva & Dulse veggies. I buy them dehydrated and when resoaked, they expand like crazy. They are also much tougher than dried, thin weed.

I haven't tried the sheets yet, just these veggies smile.gif

I haven't tried the dehydrated veggies yet, only the sheets.

Do you have a link for the type you use Persimmon?
Persimmon
This is what I have

And it really is a lot. They expand and stretch and such a TINY amount goes a looooooooong way. The bubbles go crazy for it..but I do have to chop it up very small.

Good seller too biggrin.gif
