Do you have any type of hidey hole or cave for the Pleco to hang out under? They feel more comfy out of the spotlight-that may be one of the reasons that your Plec's hanging up on the intake filter.By the way, what size type filter, and how big is your aquarium? How many other fish? Also,if you could put little groups of plants together for cover,he may enjoy that as well. These things may also be a place for him to sneak a bite to eat without the Goldies getting it all.You may want to try feeding him at night -after the tank lights go out. He'll also enjoy slices of Cukecumber/Squash/Zuchinni,etc.Cook til soft and enough to make it sink. Hope these tips help.

Plecos also like to hang out on driftwood, they can also eat it, very good for them.

Yep,with 4 Goldies and a Pleco,a 55 gal sounds appropriate for sure.

Give your pleco sometime to get use to the goldies I have recently learned this lesson my little girl was freaked out by mine and wouldn't come out for awhile and on the advice of Devs I gave her some zucchini in her hidey hole and eventually she came around, so paitence grasshopper.
