krazy.gif my fish are going crazy ithinktey are pirranahs instaed of gold fish I fed them meal worms now they follow my finger when ever i try to feed them flakes,

about the veggies like romaine and cukes how do u keep them from floating???
Fishmerised
You could par boil them, that will make most things sink but I'm not sure about the lettuce. Some people peg the lettuce to the side of the tank so it is easier for the fish to nibble at it.

For feeding Romain, spinach, broccoli and other floaty foods use a veggie clip to hold the food against the side of your tank.

A little hint that might make green leafy veggies a little easier for your fish to eat:
cook the leaf in some tank water in the microwave for about 30 seconds, then make slits in the leaf parallel to the veins with a knife. Your fish will be able to tear off bites a lot easier than if you put the leaf in whole.

Here's a link that will show you what they look like.

I don't have any problems with cucumber floating. I cut it into very small pieces and drop them in. The pieces sink right to the bottom.

Bak2it gave you excellent suggestions. I use the clip also for veggies and some fruits. Occasionally, I'll clip an orange slice to it and the fish love it. If you don't have one, I highly recommend it!

I have seen an old time aqaurium guy use a fork tied to a string to lower it down.

Stab the veggie, lower it in the tank, when done, pull it out blink.gif

You can also weight the food down with a bit of lead weight- the sort you find wrapped around aquarium plants.

Most LFS will sell big rolls of it for a couple of quid (or dollars for you yanks)

We used to stab a hole through the food and then thread a length of lead through it. Once the fish have had their fill you can yank it out and reuse it.

smile.gif The easiest thing that I do is simply cook enough to where it doesn't float anymore.I parboil all my veggies-my fish prefer it to feeding them raw.

Or you could make up a batch of gel food with lots of veggies in it. That's what I feed my guys. There's a good topic on gel food in goldfish food forum smile.gif
