Well the little miss was pretty busy last night, I woke up to find a bubble nest about 1/4 the size of her tank ! She's my first female betta, is it normal for females to do this?

LOL, good luck at the store, close your eyes when you go past the fishies! I'm not allowed in pet stores anymore, hubby goes in and buys what we need, I have to wait in the car.

Yes, some females will make nests, too. I guess without a guy around, they just have to fend for themselves

Wow I didn't know that. Are you sure she's a female and not a plakat betta? Females will have a white bump under their tummies.

If you go to Betty Splendens site she has an article there about how she got one of these bubble blowing girls to tend the nest and the fry instead of a male. v. interesting.
