I just saw him an hour ago swimming, but when I walked into the kitchen just now he was dead. cry3.gif So much money I have spent. Well now I have a new 10 gallon empty tank. Any ideas on some tropicals?

Im really sorry you lost him. You can at least say you gave it a go as some would have just left him to it.
For new fish then heavily plant it and you could get a pair of croaking gourami and a couple of shrimp.
If you dont want any more gourami then try two cory catfish and maybe a few female fighters. You could get 4 or 5.
I wouldnt recommend small fast fish such as neons as they really need more swimming space.
Or, 5 male guppies and 2 cory cats or shrimp would bring colour to your tank as well.

I'm sorry he didn't make it sad.gif Don't worry too much about spending money on medications. Next time if your fish get sick and need that medication, you'll have it on hand. I know how that goes. Remember to disinfect your tank, filter, and equipment, and re-cycle your tank again before you get new fish.

So you all recommend live plants? I had a bad experience with this once. It was hard to siphon and made a big mess.

What is a croaking guorami? The same as I had?

Also, I was wanting to get some fake plants for my 20 gallon aquarium which is the home for my 3 fantails -- I have plenty plants in there now, but they seem rather short for my aquarium and I am ready to change it up some. I think they are 10 gallon plants. I'd like to get some plants that will reach the top. What size would I need?

Does anyone know a good site to order fish supplies for a good price?

Wow, I am full of questions. I sure do appreciate you guys for your help. I now do SO many things different. The main thing is I clean my tank once a week.

There are certain plants that you can float at the top, and some that you can anchor to driftwood and rocks. That way all you have to do is lift the wood/rock and syphon underneath and you won't upset any roots. Plants help with water quality and and add extra oxygen to the water.

A croaking gourami is a type of pygmy gourami...the others (that I know of) are sparkling and licorice, and they don't get much over 1.5" and croaking gets a bit bigger. I think you had a flame or honey dwarf gourami. There is some dispute of distinguishing the croaking and sparkling gourami because both do croak, but the markings are different. Here are some links: http://www.timstropicals.com/Inventory/Gou...GouramiInfo.asp and http://www.timstropicals.com/Inventory/Gou...GouramiInfo.asp

I have never seen any of the pygmy gouramis for sale in chain stores because they are pretty rare. If you do find some, get them because they are cool fish!

Yeah my guorami was a dwarf guorami.

I purchased a powder blue and a honey guorami today. I also purchased a dalmatian molly. They are really happy. I think I may get 2 more fish, just not sure yet. It seems like all the decent priced tropicals are orange. sad.gif I have enough orange in my goldie tank. hehe So I want my tropical tank to be different.

Well thanks for all the help.

Are both of your new gouramis males? Watch them carefully...they might fight...
