I've really set my heart on having a betta and some corydoras paleatus. My mums agreed to buy me some for my birthday, so i was wondering would a betta and two Corys live happily in a 5 gal? or should i forget about adding the corys?

If all three would be happy in a 5 gal which Corys are the best to have?

Thanks!

Normally,I'd probably advise the Miniature Cories in a tank that small, but truthfully with a Betta,I'm not sure that I could trust them. You never know about Betta's. rolleyes.gif Peppered(Paleatus Cory) get a decent size, but you could probably get away with 2 -possibly three if you had a decent filter, and you let the tank cycle before you add the Cories, and keep up on maintaining Params of the tank. I have some five gal. tanks that are shaped long, and I've kept a few cories in them before, and not had a problem. smile.gif Peppered Cories have been one of my hardier Cories. As for the Betta, each one is different. In general, mine have left the Cories alone. You definately would be maxed out though, and couldn't add anything else for sure.

Thanks Devs. So the idea is doable? Cool! biggrin.gif

I was definitely thinking about the smaller sized Cory I had the Adolfo cory in mind but if Peppered Cory's are more hardier then i'll go for those.

What other things would i need?
Type of filter, substrate etc…

My birthdays isn’t until a few months so I’ve what to get everything planned.
