Unfortunately, cichlids and tropicals have different nutrition requirements than goldfish, and its always best to find type specific food. Do you have a Petsmart, Petsupermarket, Petco or anything of the kind in your neighborhood? They all have goldfish foods available, and if there isn't anything else, try Walm*rt.
There even might be smaller independent pet stores that you aren't aware of yet - maybe a peak in the Yellow pages will help you out there.
Good luck!

ok just remember that most foods lose most of there vitamins and nutrients after about 6 months.
and you can also feed them peas just put them in some water and warm them up for about 30secs in a microwave take the shells off (They cant digest the shells) and give them the 2 half's, you may need to make the 2 half's smaller depending on how big your gf is.
I did not know about peas till i came to this site you will learn loads of good ideas here.

Wizz is right - there are quite some other things that you can feed your fish. Peas for one, yes... Then there are cocktail or small salad shrimp. I thaw some, cut them in small pieces (depending on the size of the fish) and feed it to them. You can make your own food from things in the grocery store.
A helpful link to the world of goldfish foods...
http://www.kokosgoldfish.com/food.html#Gelatin%20FoodIt all depends on how much work you wonna involve. Some of us are really eager to mess our kitchen up with gel food on a regular basis. Nothing like a whole mess because of the fish!

I'm in my kitchen every moring fixing pasta, brown rice and veggies and all sorts of things for my birds so i'll just be in there a little bit longer for my fish.

If you have not opened the bag yet you may be able to keep it until you go into the city, then exchange it for some goldfish food. Even if you didn't get it from that store...just take it in, say you got the wrong kind and can you exchange it? As long as it isn't expired they'll probably do it. That stuff is expensive! :-)

hey you guys, i have a question, i have been feeding my goldfish these cichlid pellets for about a month now, it wont hurt them will it, a friend of mine told me they were okay to feed to goldfish. Aside from making orange pollution on the sides and bottom of my tank the fish love them but i dont wanna make them sick.

That has a lower protien and fat content than most of the goldfish food that I have, although it is similar to the food I feed my pond fish.
I would say that you can continue to feed this, but I would probably only feed it part of the time, and purchase a good quality goldfish food to feed, as well.
