well there i was.. at the bus stop after college, two busses came at once, one would have taken me home and the other would have taken me the opposite direction to the same street the fish store is on... i think you can guess which one i got on!

His name it Thursday, since today is Thursday thats how i named Tuesday..

Hes bright red with green scales..
I think hes a crowntail veiltail cross his anal and dorsal fins are crowntail, and his caudal is veiltail.. i think.. i havent really seen him properly yet, i havent got pics yet but will.. hes had a tough day and is a little down in the dumps

I'm a little worried about this guy, hes not active at all, he just picks a spot and stays in it for ages.. i came home today to find his water totaly clouded so hes had added stress from me plopping him in a pot while i changed it.. he is eating, but only if i leave him alone with the food for an hour or so.. hes just very sluggish.
He was like it in the shop, the first time i saw him was on sunday and he was hid under the filter, then when i went back and bought him he was hiding behind a big plant, and wasnt coming out..
should i just give him time?

Edit: i hope hes not nearing the end of his life, he is quite big for a shop bought betta.. twice the size of Sidney, he looks maybe two years old..

Give him some time, he may just be a bit skittish. If its easier on him, you can change a portion of the water with a turkey baster, its gentle and you won't have to take him out of the tank. I did that for a while with my bettas, now I use a siphon and only take them out once a month or so.

I did something stupid
I foolishly decided to put him in a breeding trap in the tropical tank, since i thought the cold of the bowl might have been making him sluggish... but as soon as i got him in there, the tank light showed up ich.
So now i have him with ich in a cold bowl and a potentially contaminated tropical tank, with i cant salt because there are corys and frogs and snails

Well, at least now you know why he was sluggish! Good luck with the treatment.

Hes such a wierd fish! The other day i was doing the fish food rounds and i poped some food in there for him, but instead of pouncing on it as usual.. she started swimming in an S shape under his bubble nest.. like they do to entice a female under to spawn i was like 'whaaa! theres no female in there!' it was the coolest thing to see though, i thought they just swam in an S shape but they do it like a snake rippling their bodies, like snakes do when they go along fast.. or swim
Maybe he saw Verity across the room.. very strange

oh yea, that went in about 2 days! He seems a very healthy cool fish, im very happy i got him, hes quite a character!
Hes living in a 1 gall tub right now, and sidneys in a two gal.. so when the danio fry are all grown up and left home aaand verity is back in the main tank, i can divide one of their tubs for the two males, and it will be filtered and heated (verity is using the filter and heater while shes sick.. her fin rot just keeps healing then rotting then healing.. its starting to heal so hopefuly this will be the last time )
