smile.gif Well I have gotten my first Betta, and his name is Harry! heartpump.gif He is just beautiful and loves his 5 gal tank. newfish.gif I had him in my 20 gal cycled tank waiting for his 5 gal to complete cycling. So I hope he does not mind the down size. wink.gif

I read about soaking the dry food for bettas like the goldfish food, so I have been doing that. What else do they like to eat? Are they like our goldfish friends and the answer is "everything"?

biggrin.gif Woo-Hoo!! A new baby! Congrats. My Betta's love frozen Blood worms/Brine shrimp (live or dried),Pro gold, etc. Of course the Betta that ate the Pro Gold was in a community tank and couldn't stand the thought of anyone else eating so he learned to eat alot of different foods! laugh.gif It is a good habit also to try and get Betta to enjoy a pea on occasion also. They helps in the way of constipation and bloatedness down the road.Just make sure that it's cooked til soft-outer shell is taken off ,and mush with your finger til soft.Good luck & of course we'll be waiting to see the pics! exactly.gif

My guys love bloodworms, I was giving them the freeze dried kind but I got some frozen about a week ago and the loooove them, don't know if they will ever eat freeze dried again. There are all types of frozen and freeze dried foods avaliable. During the summer we get mosquito larvae in our horses water troughs and boy do they love those! Bettas will also eat cooked peas to help keep them nice and regular.

I feed the betta bio-gold to my guys. I was feeding betta bits but they only float for a couple seconds, once they sink my guys loose them and then I'm trying to siphon them out of the tank. That's the one thing I like about the bio-gold is they stay afloat until they are eaten.

Once a week give him unshelled cooked peas, maybe a 1/4 of a one since he is small. Make sure you squish it into small pieces for him. It helps them not get constipated and possible die from it.

smile.gif Thanks everyone. I will try the frozen bloodworms as we have those stocked in the freezer. My goldfish believe that they are as important as water rofl3.gif Never seen fish act so insane. exactly.gif

Also I will try the peas. Another goldfish favorite in this house. smile.gif

Thanks again to all!

Good luck! Some bettas are terribly picky - like mine! So, don't be discouraged if all he wants to eat is his betta bites.
