biggrin.gif Thought you might enjoy this cute little story. Whenever my husband and I go out to dinner we always bring home the meat scraps for the dogs if any are left.
Now we have taken to bringing home veggies too, only for the fish!!! laugh.gif
But somehow I can't seem to bring myself to tell the waitress the veggies are for the gf. Doggie bags are simply that, people assume you have dogs when all you bring home is the fat of a steak. But they do give you funny looks when you ask for a seperate container for the veggies.
One of these days I am gonna bring myself to say "the squash is for my gf" and see what he or she does. rofl3.gif

Man the tank was a mess tonight after a feast of squash!!! We are just now finishing up a cleaning. But they loved it!!!!

I usually eat all of my veggies when I am out at a restaurant, but I am sure the grocery store clerk thinks I am very weird when I get upset when the grocery store is out of zucchini laugh.gif

Glad your fish enjoyed their squash!

I started bringing little baggies with me to the restaurants so that I could take home a small bit of veggies. It was easier than asking for them to be wrapped up!
LaurieP
I usually eat my veggies too at this particular resturant but for some reason they gave me extra squash and I just couldn't eat all.

Lucky for your fish biggrin.gif

I love at Thanksgiving my cousin makes whipped squash, I love it. It is almost like a "sweet potatoe" cassarole.

biggrin.gif Lucky fishes,

Kissy how do you serve it with brown sugar. I use it in soups cassaroles ect, haven't tasted it on its own. Now thats another thing for the boys to try.
Ponderosa Power
Siansy, I have never made the brown sugar squash myself, but I think you just cut acorn squash in half after its cooked or while its cooking and melt butter and brown sugar in the middle cavity. Uhmmm I 'll get back to you on the recipe. All I know is that it was easy and yummy. It always got me to eat my squash when I was little! biggrin.gif
LaurieP
Yeah my cousin makes it with brown sugar and butter. Just like mashed sweet potatoes. Mmm mmmmm

However I wouldn't recommend that for the goldies!!! rofl3.gif

Yes, Kissy is right with her directions. You just cut an acorn squash in half or quarters, and dot some butter and brown sugar in the cavity. Then place in a baking pan with a bit of water in the bottom, for about an hour at 350 f. If you want to do this faster, you can pierce the acorn squash with a fork in several places, then microwave on high until soft, about 10 minutes (depends on the size of the squash). Then you can cut this in quarters and take out the seeds. It will be very hot, so this is better if you can let it cool. Then put the quarters with the butter and brown sugar on them in the oven for about 15 minutes or back in the microwave to melt the butter and brown sugar. It is better to finish them in the oven, though biggrin.gif

You could use other types of winter squash for this, as well.
