Hello all!

Got my Emporer 400 today *woohoo*! So, slowly but surely getting ready for water in the tank and get the h20 cycling!

I am having a hard time finding ammonia without surfactants at my grocery stores/drug stores. I found some online, but it's not real clear if it's completely clean of cleaning agents.

Any ideas, or can you tell me where you found your ammonia?

Thanks -

I got mine from nnnnnn. It says Clear Ammonia. The ingredients list ammonia, softened water and a chelating agent.

I was a bit concerned about the chelating agent. But take a read of my thread, particularly the post #8 (by daryl):

Hope this helps.

Just called Ace Hardware, under $2 for a quart - doesn't suds when shaken, and it's the same as someone in that thread had bought.

Thanks again,

No problem!!

I jsut got 2 Emporer 400s for my 90 gallon that I'm currently cycling with my "clear ammonia" and BioSpira. They seem like great filters. We'll see how they do once I toss my fish in there!!

Good luck with cycling!

Oh awesome! I'm waiting for pay day (monday smile.gif ) to get a heater, tubing, 2 more air pumps, airstones (or wand) some more plants and finally !!! a backing.
Oh yes, and a Python. I got some ammonia today, but don't want to start until I have the above in place. Probaly Monday eve, water will go in. I leave town Wed coming back Saturday, so I might put some ammonia before I leave and ask pet sitter to add a little each day.
I'll add biospira when I get back.

Keep me posted on your cycling. Would love to know how fast your params get in line...

Thanks!
