These are the Asian Cichlids
Orange Chromide - Etroplus maculatus
Green Chromide, Banded Chromide - Etroplus suratensis
Etroplus canarensis
The Flowerhorn isn't an Asian Cichlid. It's a hybrid cichlid that was created in Malaysia around 1996-1997. The exact origin of the fish is unknown. But many experts believe that six cichlasoma-like cichlids were involved in creating this fish.
Trimac cichlid - Cichlasoma trimaculatum
Red terror - Cichlasoma festae
Midas cichlid - Amphilophus citrinellum
Red devil - Amphilophus labiatum
Redheaded cichlid - Vieja synspila
Jingang blood parrot
are believed to be its parents. There are so many breeds of flowerhorns that it is nearly impossible for even an expert to identify what species were involved to create this hybrid. Some flowerhorns are even dyed, and/or hormone induced.
