Full Version: Purigen? Has Anyone Used This?

I was looking through my Doctors Foster and Smith catalog last night and I saw this stuff called Purigen it's a chemical media for filters. It says that it is a macro porous synthetic polymer that removes proteins, nitrates, nitrites and ammonia and that it raises redox and polishes water clarity blah, blah blah. Anyway it sounds like it would be a good boost to my flitration system. I'm not having water quality issues but I did just add another little poop factory this week so any extra help would be great on the filtration end. There's a recommendation under it from a fancy goldfish keeper and all but I wanted to know if anyone has tried it and if it helped. Thanks!

Yeah... Seachem just about claims that Purgen will do everything but change the water and feed the fish.

Personally, I'd be concerned that Purgen would absorb the ammonia in tank water and screw up the cycle.
