How about Green and White or Red and Black? Just throwing other options out there.......Mix things up a bit smile.gif

I prefer not to put gravel in my tanks so most of them are bare. The one tank that I do have gravel in is natural brown.

I have to have gravel becuase i do not like a barebottom tank! Sorry but i might go with red or something becuase i never thought about that! Thanks for the idea!
Ponderosa Power
I'd go for a natural color that would bring out the colors of your fish, like dark brown or white. Black would also be good and really make the colors of your platies pop, but you might have a hard time seeing your molly. I wouldn't go with red, that will clash/drown out the analagus yellow/orange/red scheme on your platies. If you don't want to go natural, how about purple and white?
Gold Ryu
I would have natural colors or black. smile.gif

I'm going with a black or another dark color for my 20 gallon. My 10 gallon guppy tank has a very nice looking mix of a dark forest green and sort of a plain green color. smile.gif Just another idea I guess LoL.

Good luck!

okay! I am not sure yet! I will have to look when we go to the store becuase i might not change at all! Thanks!
balashark
ur gonna pull up your old gravel and dump new into an existing aquarium? you might stir up a lot of ignore.gif

[edit] oh, and i voted for natural. i've got purple, green, blue (25lbs of each) in mine because most of my fish aren't of a colorful nature (excpet my parrot fish which is yellow, and the platys which are orange, red, yellow; so it all works). i had natural stone in my old aquarium, natural decor, and not very colorful fish; so all my friends said I needed more color in the decor this time around.

i am going to get the following things and redo my tank:

~ syphon
~ test kit
~ gravel vac
~ new plants
~new gravel

I am going to redo my tank! Thanks! Any ideas!

If you really want to redo your tank, make sure the water quality is good first so you can try and figure out why your fishies were having trouble...

I forget where it is on the site, but there was a gallery you can look through of tank pictures from other members. It might give you a few ideas.. just don't copy tongue.gif Try and add your own little touches to it smile.gif

Okay! I will look for the different pics and the little fishes are doing great now so i think it was just over crowded becuase there was like 15 fish in there! Thanks for all the help!
balashark
look through the tank of the month contest forum, all the old ones are there, tons of great pics.

but yea, don't copy! smile.gif

and i for one am so glad to hear that ur gonna get a test kit and gravel vac/syphon. for a 10, you really just need the small or medium size. (what are they, like 3 bucks?) any bigger and you'll make your job of cleaning harder than it has to be.

is this a gravel vac and syphon together:

python pro clean gravel washer and syphon kit
it is at petco for 5/49. is it a syphon and a gravel washer in the same thing or what is it becuase i am confused! I might the gravel vac and syphon this Thursday!

exactly.gif I couldn't find one that would work well for my 5 gallon hex so I got another medium and had to cut it in half so it fits in the tank. It's so hard to get the water to start syphoning, but whatever works! smile.gif

Ponderosa Power
Syphons, gravel vacs, and gravel washers are all the same thing.
Black oranda
smile.gif natural, sand is fun.
020292
so if i get what i posted does that mean it is all going to do the same for me!

Ponderosa Power
yes

I said other. I think a really bright gravel would be cool. They sell this gravel at most of lfs's thats a mix of neon colors. Its got blue, geen, orange, pink, and yellow. I hate pink but I think it looks pretty cool mixed in with all those other colors. Its bright and happy looking
Kimma
I like white gravel. Its harder to keep clean, but it your fish do not have to compete with the colors in the gravel. You see them first!
tinkerbell
green and blue is nice, but sand is lovely heartpump.gif

i have changed my tank and i have black and purple so it brings out the color in my orange platties!

Thanks!
Ponderosa Power
I bet that looks nice smile.gif
020292
yes it does!

Thanks for all the help on choosing!
Ponderosa Power
Hey dean I just thought of something. If you know about color theory, purple, orange and green form a triad on the color wheel and look harmonious together. I bet your tank would look even better with some nice green plants (silk or real). That's something to look forward to once you have your test kit smile.gif
020292
thanks! Are you an art teacher becuase i would not have thought about that!

Thanks!

I will have to remember that when i have the money and after moving!

Maybe i can slip it into the cart one day when my mom is not looking!
That is what i should do with the test kit too one day!

Should i try it!
Ponderosa Power
Nah, I'm only 17. But I did learn a lot about the color wheel and color theory in my art classes in highschool smile.gif
Peanuts
I like white or natural gravel.
020292
i looked at the white but then the poop shows too much in between the gravel vacs!

Thanks!
The natural is cool! I might get that when i get my next tank which i do not know when it is going to be!~
goldfishlover10
How much did you spend on the gravel?
020292
i spent 1.67 for a 2 pound bag!
Thanks!
